Senator Webb Joins Del Toro Fundraiser Aboard Former Presidential Yacht Sequoia

September 24th, 2007

US Senator Jim Webb arrived to a crowd of over 60 aboard the USS Sequoia, capping off a packed day of fall fundraising for Commander Carlos Del Toro (ret).  With the crowd gathering on the top deck of the former Presidential Yacht, host Gary Silversmith introduced both former Navy Officers as “military heroes,” whose similarities include their military career, and now, their political campaigns.

“Commander Del Toro is in a tough race,” said Senator Webb, “but he is running for the right reasons: because he cares about his community and the Commonwealth of Virginia.  I am proud to support his campaign and I know he will bring much needed leadership to the Virginia General Assembly.”

Del Toro, fresh off the endorsement of Governor Warner just a few hours earlier, stressed the need for stronger leadership in Virginia and more representatives like Senator Webb.  “I admire Senator Webb for his values, his leadership skills, and his voice in the US Senate.  I am honored by his support and thankful that he's fighting so hard to protect and support our military servicemembers and their families.”
